How to use

Leave the pen at room temperature for 30 minutes before injecting. Wash your hands, select an injection site, clean it with an alcohol wipe, and let it dry before you inject. Inspect the pen and the medicine. Make sure the pen is locked and the base cap is on until you inject.

3 basic steps to inject with the Emgality Pen

1. Uncap the pen

Twist off base cap and throw it away. Do not put the base cap back on, as this could damage the needle. Do not touch the needle.

2. Place and unlock

Place the clear base flat and firmly at the injection site and unlock the pen.

3. Press, hold, and listen

Press and hold the teal button. Listen for a loud click. Keep holding the pen against your skin. After about 10 seconds, you will hear a second click. That means the full dose has been delivered.

Make sure that you clean the injection site with an alcohol wipe and let it dry before administering Emgality. Do not inject in the exact same spot twice.

01:45-01:57

[Jessica looks at the Emgality pen and uncaps it. This is then followed by a shot of her placing the pen over the injection spot.]

Caption: Be sure not to touch the needle.

Narrator: Now that your pen is ready, here are the three basic steps to administer your injection. First, make sure the pen is in the locked position. Then uncap the pen by twisting off the base cap and throw it in the trash.

01:58-02:22

[Jessica holds the pen against her skin as a countdown clock graphic appears in the bottom right, starting at 10 seconds. She presses the button for the first click and the clock starts counting down. When the clock hits "0," a second click is heard.]

Narrator: Second, place and hold the clear base flat and firmly against your skin. Turn the lock ring to the unlock position. The third step is to press and hold the teal injection button. You will hear a loud click. Keep holding the clear base firmly against your skin. About 10 seconds after the first click, you will hear a second click and the gray plunger will be visible. This means your injection is complete.

02:23-02:27

[Jessica pours water from a kettle into a cup for herself and continues to go about her day after disposing of the pen in a sharps container.]
